Summary
This is a slow-burn, a connection between Ponyboy and Curly that turns into something neither of them can ignore, even though it’s clearly a bad idea.It starts with tension between their groups, the Greasers and Tim Shepard’s gang. Pony notices Curly acting a little different from the others. They keep running into each other and trade sarcastic comments that slowly turn into something more. Pony’s gang starts noticing he’s acting off, while Curly’s group realizes he’s distracted.Things escalate during a fight between the gangs. Pony gets caught in the middle, and Curly unexpectedly steps in and takes a hit for him, which makes it obvious he cares. After that, both sides grow more suspicious, and Pony is warned to stay away.They stop seeing each other for a few days, but it bothers Pony. Then Curly shows up at Pony’s window, beaten up, because of his own gang. They both admit the situation is stupid and dangerous, but neither of them is willing to stop. It ends with them finally giving in and kissing, fully aware that what they’re doing will cause serious problems. Meanwhile, Pony’s gang is already suspicious and waiting, so everything is on the verge of blowing up.

Summary
The sunrise was pretty. With its pinks, yellows, and blues. Its detailed clouds. A softness that Pony felt like he could never touch again. He never would feel the same staring at it when he did with Johnny. The relief from stress didn’t come even as he sat there for an hour. It was almost laughable. He was meant to be the one to tell Dallas all about this. But here he is. Dallas died and he doesn’t even remember what was so special. It pissed him off.
He came home in handcuffs that day.
Ponyboy attempts to distance himself from the incident. Even if that means shreading previous close bonds.
He just doesn't wanna be the pity party kid anymore.
What's a better way than surrounding himself with people who weren't around at the time and situations he would have never been in before?
