Summary
Jason had always had this dream as a child, over and over again, of his mom high on a shelf like a small, fragile porcelain doll dangling too close to the edge. She was always just too high for his little hands to reach, even stood on the tallest piece of furniture he could climb on. As he got older, she just seemed to get further and further out of reach, moving away even as he tried desperately to help. Eventually, it began to end with her falling off the edge of that little shelf, slipping down behind a large, damp cabinet he was too small to move, losing her forever behind the rotting wood placed right against the wall in their dingy little apartment.
It had all clicked for him when he came back to her dead in the bathroom from a heroin overdose.

Summary
The only one to ever cry the death of Jason Todd was none other but the one who bred him: Gotham City.
Gotham brought him back once, her favorite child, so he could grow up to be the one protector of the lost and the forgotten. A different kind of hero than his father.
So, as to repay the unfairness of the child that gave his all to the city, Gotham listened to the last wishes of his heart. Even if that meant altering the course of history.
Just this time, Gotham would make sure to fulfill the wishes of her favorite son for once. To give Jason the justice he deserved.

If you were to ask him, Jason wouldn’t know how he got into this situation. Well, maybe that was just the blood loss getting to him.
Or,
Jason gets hurt during a drug bust and decides not to get help. Don’t get him wrong, he wasn’t suicidal; if he wanted to kill himself he would have done so already (atleast that was what he told himself). Oh and there’s a cat!
