Perhaps it is her alone, not the lands that is the stranger. She has made her home in so many lands, wandering endlessly, that nothing and nowhere is ever home, but they have ceased to be fully strange.

Summary
Serah bat Asher likes to stop outside the Beit Midrash and listen in on the discussions when she has a free moment. She was there, after all, when the laws were given. It’s fascinating to hear how they interpret them now. And occasionally they discuss her family. She has no one to speak to anymore who knew them, but she still likes to hear their stories retold. One day as she listens she can’t help but interject. It may have been many centuries ago, but she remembers clear as day how everything looked on the way out of Egypt.
