He looked at Sirius sharply, and for once, matched his grin. “Yeah.”
“Maybe that’s my excuse then,” Sirius said. “I cause a bit of chaos now, and maybe one day, it’ll turn into rock and roll.”After losing his mother at age eleven, Remus has spent the better part of the last four years bouncing from school to school or else running around London and pretending as though he wasn't the kind of well-bred boy his father brought him up to be. Now, with his chances all run out, Remus is sent to Hawkings Independent School as a last-ditch effort to clean up his act. There he meets the very people who will set up the rest of his life, and is forced to confront the pieces of himself he'd long thought had been lost.

Naturally, Regulus strived to defy the odds of his namesake; but in a Gryffindor-esque, impulsive act of bravery, Regulus turned the tides of the Marauder's story. Sirius Black is eleven years old and all he knows is what his mother tells him. He knows he is going to Hogwarts. He knows he is pureblood and should despise anyone who isn't pureblood. He knows he will be placed into Slytherin and make the Black family proud. Sirius doesn't know why all of this is true, but he has no reason to believe differently. Not until he wanders into a Magical Menagerie and sees the boy in the cage and wants to be brave.
Remus has only ever known the cage. Since he can remember his world has been made of four walls of bars, pain, and a dingy sky above. He doesn't know why his life is like this, just that it is. He's never had anyone look at him kindly until the boy with the grey eyes and dark hair peers into his cage and Remus feels hope.
