If she were being honest with herself, maybe it was more that Mabel wouldn’t say why she asked Theo. She wouldn’t say she enjoyed their day on Coney Island or had a desire to see another genuine smile on his lips. She wouldn’t say that she wanted to be the reason for Theo’s smile. She wouldn’t say she’d been learning ASL on YouTube and practice apps in her free time.
It’s a good thing Mabel wasn’t used to being totally honest.
Mabel invites Theo to her first art gallery showing. Theo helps Mabel have actual fun at it.

Summary
Colin abandons his travels to head home early because Penelope refuses to respond to him. He is bound and determined to get to the bottom of this when he returns, but a nasty storm hits while at sea making him feel he will never make it home as he is knocked unconscious and heading towards the bottom of the ocean.
Meanwhile
Penelope receives yet another one of Colin’s letters stating he is returning early because he cannot focus on anything but her and why she wasn’t responding to him. The last thing he put in his letter was “prepare yourself.” What a joke. That was until she had unannounced visitors claiming that Colin was gone! She should have wrote to him. She should have told him why she was angry. She should have done something besides ignore him. Now he was gone…
…and it was all her fault.I will eventually change the rating for this but we have a bit before that happens. 😁

this is technically the 2nd fan fic I have ever written as I started this not long after A Convincing Proposal.
