When Gendry is discovered and revealed as one of Robert’s bastards many years earlier than in canon, Jon Arryn pulls some strings to get him away from the Lannisters’ claws, and decides to send him to foster with Ned Stark in Winterfell. When Gendry arrives, he quickly finds kinship with the Stark children, but may get more than he bargained for when he befriends Arya Stark. As the friendship between the two slowly grows into something more, troubling words from the south reach Ned’s ears, and Gendry’s mere arrival in Winterfell alerts the Starks to a Lannister plot that threatens to sunder the Iron Throne. A butterfly’s wings can cause a hurricane, and a Stag among Wolves may shift the balance of the Seven Kingdoms forever.
Originally intended to be a slowburn Arya x Gendry childhood friends-to-lovers fic, that sort of snowballed as I fully outlined and realized the butterfly effect that I had unintentionally created. May turn into a full canon divergence AU of the books if I stay motivated enough lol.

The Hand, Tyrion Lannister, already has a perfect candidate in mind, the newly appointed Lord of Storm's End, Gendry Baratheon. The young lord has remained unmarried and given his blood and name, would make a excellent choice. The Hand's plan may soon fall apart, however, when Arya Stark arrives in King's Landing as the Stark's representative, she has plans of her own for the stag.

She has so many faces now that she barely remembers who Arya Stark is supposed to be, what it feels like to be alive and whole again, and not the frozen girl she has become. She will do anything to protect the last remains of her family, but what will they think of what she has become?
An army of the dead marches for Winterfell and she feels just as cold as them.

Basically this idea that it took Arya longer to escape the faceless men and she spent that extra year or so training with them, that by the time Arya reaches Winterfell the army of the dead is already marching towards them (hence Peter Baelish is still alive). Kinda my season 8 rewrite, I don't change everything but I try to give it more justice than the show did. I do change some details from earlier seasons but that's all revealed in flashbacks/dreams and whatnot.
Rated mature because of swearing and violence and possible sexy times :)
