The man smiled. It wasn’t kind.
“You really don’t remember,” he said, voice low, precise. Each syllable landed like a stone in still water. “Six months of my life, and you erased me the second I was gone.”Jeonghan’s champagne glass paused halfway to his lips. The voice (deeper now, rougher) tugged at a memory buried under years of spotlights and applause.
High school. Lockers slamming. Laughter that wasn’t his but that he’d never stopped.
His stomach dipped.
“…Seungcheol?”Choi Seungcheol smiled wider, all teeth. “There it is.”
Jeonghan’s heart kicked hard against his ribs. He set the glass down carefully, buying time. The boy he remembered had been soft at the edges: thick glasses, hunched shoulders, cheeks still round with baby fat. Easy prey.The man in front of him was a weapon. Shoulders that filled a bespoke suit like it had been sewn around muscle and menace. The same eyes, though: dark, intense, fixed on Jeonghan like he was prey that had finally wandered back into reach.
