Pugsley Addams stood in the middle of a road in front of what looked to be a cafe, a large black duffel bag over one shoulder, and a letter in hand. His heart was pounding in his ears, electricity pulsing through his veins.
At the end of the school year, Eugene Ottinger had asked Pugsley Addams if he’d like to visit him over break. At his house. Like friends do.
Pugsley, in his 15 years of life, had never made friends with another human being (or, well, not any living human being), so the very concept of someone wanting to see him, enjoying his company enough to invite him to hang out, was completely foreign.
Or
Pugsley Addams has never had any (living) friends.
Eugene Ottinger has never had any (non-insect) friends.
Then they spend their summer together.
