Summary
The summer when Quinn was sixteen, he, Jack, and Luke bored with too much free time on their hands, a thirst for extra money, and a brother who can see ghosts, had the brilliant idea to start a ghost-busting business.
It had been fun for a while. They had felt invincible. Most of the time it was Quinn trying to convince a ghost to pass over into the afterlife so they could get money from whichever poor person was suffering from a haunting. The rest of the time it was people paying them for Quinn to relay messages from a ghost to their living human relative or friend. It was a good gig for a while, with Quinn doing the ghost talking and Jack doing the people talking while Luke followed along so he wouldn’t feel left out as most thirteen-year-old brothers do.

Saw someone on twitter say that Quinn looks like he can see ghosts but isn’t allowed to talk about it and thought it was hilariously accurate. This is that story.

Summary
Quinn Hughes knows two things pretty quickly: Danielle Smith is hot, and Danielle Smith does not care even a little bit that he plays professional hockey.
Which, for most people, might be humbling.
For Quinn, unfortunately, it is basically life-altering.
Fresh off the Milan Olympics and running on fumes, Quinn ends up in a Boston urgent care with bruised ribs, a bad attitude about being there at all, and absolutely no desire to be recognized. Danielle is a twenty-five-year-old Physician Assistant working the overnight shift, surviving on caffeine, student debt, and sheer force of competence, and she treats him exactly like what he is: another stubborn patient making questionable choices with his body.
She does not ask about the Olympics. She does not care about his stats. She tells him hockey players are terrible patients and makes him laugh when he’s far too exhausted to be doing that.
The problem is, the more time Quinn spends around the one woman who refuses to be impressed by him, the less normal any of this starts to feel.
Or: Quinn gets a rib injury, an urgent care crush, and a rapidly worsening problem with being treated like a human being.
