Just as James T. Kirk retook the Kobayashi Maru and cheated to win it, Spock Prime decides to go back in time, and intends to use whatever means are necessary to save the planet Vulcan from Nero. This includes roping the young Kirk into his plans. But each change they make to the timeline has much further reaching effects than anyone could have anticipated.
