The twenty-eight-hour drive from his barebones apartment in Washington DC to Mount Massive, an arguably bleaker sight, wasn't ideal. Miles Upshur had prepared himself for this cross country drive physically. Emotionally, however, not so much. He was on some kind of timer if the email he received was anything to go by.
A tip against MURKOFF is what came through, from an unknown source within the MURKOFF Psychiatric Systems' facilities. Some poor bastard roped into two weeks of ‘software consult’ and they were breaking all sorts of NDA’s for even considering sending that email.
MURKOFF had a history.
Not exactly hidden either. An employee in 2007 made sure of that fact, leaked a healthy chunk of information and just vanished, though they’ve not been heard from since. A lawsuit from one Melissa Cho, something to do with the unlawful termination of her contract. Miles, from field experience away in Afghanistan, was aware of their attempts to disguise profit as charity and this seemed like a prime example. Not to mention the asylum they were occupying had been previously shut down in the seventies, some covered up government scandal was the general consensus- Language:

Summary
At age fourteen, Kurusu Akira kills the only cognitive psientist to object to Shido’s methods under the latter’s orders. His hand doesn’t tremble as he pulls the trigger, but his heart breaks. Still, it’s worth it. It’s the first step towards freedom, and more importantly, his revenge.
Two years later, cursed child Akechi Goro is caught shoplifting, and after a brief chase gets slammed into the pavement by three police officers double his size. The only reason he can't slip out of their grasp is because he hasn't eaten in three days. It earns him a one-way ticket to Tokyo.

“Jonah Magnus.” The cloudy silhouette snarled as it’s hand clamped tightly around Jonah's ascot. That was indeed his name, but Jonah couldn’t begin to fathom what he did to have it spat out with such hatred.
But nonetheless, Jonah was a gentleman and he would kindly address the angry figure as politely as possible, “Yes, and you are?”
“What?” The form spluttered as it slowly came into focus. Ah, yes. That probably wasn’t the proper response to being held at gunpoint by a random stranger. Must have been the blow to his head.
