    Summary

Kukri kept sending me media about “Robbing the Hood” and telling me to watch it, that I’d understand what was going on better if I did, but I had no interest in watching people rob Hoods, whatever those were. I didn’t like robbing in real life (I did it because I had to not because I wanted to) and I doubted I’d like it in media.

Shortly after hacking its governor module, a rogue SecUnit is involved in an ill-fated space battle and finds itself alone save for the company of a mourning raider ship bot pilot. It would like to spend the rest of its life watching media in what remains of the ship's crew quarters, but it turns out that "the rest of its life" wouldn't be long at all without the money to pay for proper maintenance. There seems to be only one way to get that money.

    Robbing the Hood by Rilleshka

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Accidental space pirate Murderbot, the oblivious bot Casanova? What more could you want. Maybe ART dying of envy that another ship got to MB first? I'VE GOT EXCELLENT NEWS FOR YOU.

I flipped back through its comm logs. It struggled weakly against me. I shoved it down and it quieted once more. Billiard had called it via comm and… sweet talked it into believing that those ball bearings had been sold during transit and needed to be shipped, expedited, immediately. Billiard was here to make sure that they arrived on schedule. There was no time to waste with docking and transfer on QuaylisDriven. Millions of credits were at stake.
    (...)
Billiard’s crew must be very creative and well-informed, the kind of humans that would have served me well if I had been able to obtain them for myself. A strange feeling of resentment overwhelmed me. It seemed rather unfair that this unscrupulous raider ship had obtained such people for its service. I certainly deserved them more.

The pings were all from Overse’s interface and routed from a transit ring called Trans-All, the kind of ping that was just are you in range – are you in range – are you in range. It was a call for help and it fucking terrified me, because I was answering it way, way too late.

Ratthi goes missing. Pin-Lee isn't used to losing. Murderbot isn't used to having anything to lose.

    Summary

On a corporate owned mining asteroid in the depths of the Corporation Rim, a group of plucky, heroic, indentured humans have just decided to make their first move in a daring escape plan. Said first move is a deceptively simple hack, putting control of their corporate overlords' single, overworked SecUnit into their hands.

Little do they know, this murderbot is already hacked.

    Summary

The middle of All Systems Red, but with a few changes to how those pesky combat override modules work, among other things :)

    Now with bonus chapters!

    -

The humans were going to want to know what a combat override module was, what it did, how it worked, and most importantly, why it hadn't worked on me. I could answer the first three things just fine, but short of telling my already-jittery clients I was hacked ("so I'm actually one of those scary rogue units you've heard so much about, but the good news is that a combat override module can't hijack a governor module that doesn't work!"), that last thing was going to be a big problem.

Honestly, even if I did tell them exactly that, which I really didn't want to do, it was going to be a really big fucking problem.

There is actually a way out from between a reinforced steel bulkhead and a hard place, but you're definitely not gonna like it by Dooiney_Oie

Delightful canon divergence AU, with great balance between funny and thoughtful.
