Immediately, almost instantaneously, voice clamor over each other, raising in pitch. It’s cacophonous, a disaster, really, and in the earlier days he’d treat it as such; in the earlier days, Buggy got angry.

He was a lot more difficult to entertain back then, you remember, and his acts had yet to gain the pretense of a show. You didn’t want to say Buggy had grown to be kinder—you didn’t want to say Buggy had grown at all. Buggy was, at his simplest, a very good pretender. When he was feeling benevolent—which wasn’t very often—Buggy was very very good at playing the part of a devoted ring-master.

My first ao3 upload! I’m scared.

(This is my take on what happens in the two year gap period and beyond for Eustass Kid! I’m sticking as close to canon as possible, but this is also a fanfic with my own character, so it’s obviously not 100%)

With a burned down hospital and nowhere left to go, Ruby is left with no other choice. She must climb aboard the Kid Pirate's ship and become their new doctor.

Ruby, a half-mink in hiding, has spent her whole life island hopping. After finally starting her own clinic and settling for a few years, she thought she was finally safe from her past. Alas, good things never last. When an injured, obnoxious and dangerous pirate is brought in with a missing arm, it's clear to her that things are going to get stirred up.
