Sukuna seems to have the same thought, however; despite all of the teasing, he’s staring at Megumi like he’s lost his mind. “I could kill you,” he reminds Megumi, and Megumi immediately rolls his eyes, purposefully copying Sukuna’s earlier expression. The corners of Sukuna’s lips quirk up.
“You haven’t,” says Megumi, another echo of Sukuna’s. “And if you haven’t now, then you won’t until you want to.”
“You sound awfully sure of yourself.”

So it’s not exactly a shock when he opens his mouth, blue eyes sparkling from behind dark sunglasses (and it’s odd that he’s chosen to wear his glasses here instead of his blindfold; odd to know that Six Eyes trusts him in some weird, skewed way for the simple fact that they both care for a child who deserves more than Toji can give him) and says: “I want you to teach at Jujutsu Tech.”
It’s not a shock, because Gojo has said more ridiculous things with a straighter face than the one that resides on his features now. Toji throws his head back and laughs.
Gojo does not.
“Oh,” says Toji. “You’re not joking.”

“I’m sure you’ll buy him a nice souvenir to make it all better,” Satoru tells him and removes a hand from the wheel once again. Megumi expects him to return to the phone, so he’s surprised when there’s suddenly a warm palm on his knee, even though he’s half-watching Satoru from his periphery. "And it’s not like I could touch Yuuji-kun like this.”
The hand slides down his thigh, fingertips rubbing circles into his skin and causing a breakout of chills at the base of his spine, rising up in an uncontrollable shiver. Megumi leans further against the window to get away from his body’s betrayal but he can still feel the way Satoru is smiling behind him.
“This is just for you,” Satoru murmurs, tracing his fingers back up Megumi’s thigh.
Megumi finds himself the unlucky student accompanying Gojo overseas.

It takes a bit more soft coaxing, until Megumi finally peeks over the covers. His eyes are red-rimmed, and the tip of his nose glows pink in the moonlight.
Gojo’s heart stammers. Megumi had been crying. The emotionless, bratty kid that had stubbornly squeezed past the iron defences of Gojo’s heart, has been in pain and is crying.
“Megumi,” Gojo says softly, at a loss for words.
At this time of the night, in this mood, with sleep dragging the vowels of his words into something quiet and raspy, Gojo can’t find the energy to joke. Instead, he leans in, hands ready to scoop the little boy up and hide him from the rest of the world. Then, he stops. Megumi probably wouldn’t appreciate that.
The first words that come out of Megumi’s mouth are unexpected. “I’m a bad person.”

If Megumi had been raised amongst other Zen’ins, this would be a perfectly normal occurrence; but he wasn’t and it’s not, it’s fucked up and Toji knows it’s fucked up. It’s one reason in a sea of others why he left; to get away from all of that, to try and start over fresh.
He didn’t expect that shit to follow them, but somewhere deep down he knew it never really left. No matter how much he hates it, he’s still too Zen’in; it’s ingrained in him, in his blood, in their shared blood.
