Summary
After the defeat of Cassandra, life slowly returns to normal for Darnell and his friends. It wasn’t as easy for the pyromaniac though. Most of his life he was told that liking other men was wrong, and that men were men, and women were women. He felt like an outcast for being gay, and he didn’t really feel a connection to his identity as a man. Since his knowledge of gender identities was limited when he was younger, he shoved his doubts aside while feeling like he lived a lie. Then he met Pico, an android that had masculine pronouns, and who wouldn’t hesitate to correct others who wanted to refer to him as an object.
Darnell’s doubts of his own identity re-emerged upon learning who the ginger was. The more time they spent together, the more the carpenter would question his feelings towards him. He wasn’t sure if Pico would be willing to try things out when he already had Girlfriend and Boyfriend in his life. With Nene’s help, he discovers that there are people who identify as enby, and learns that asexuality and aromanticism were a spectrum. It felt like something within him finally clicked. He could finally be himself, but before he could act upon his feelings for Pico, his past comes back to haunt him.
