“Just saying, if you’re taking another hit, you should share it with me,” Mike says, and Will slowly tilts his head, drinking in every word. “It just makes sense. Like, mathematically.”
Will’s reddened eyes narrow, bewildered. “Mathematically?”
“If there’s two hits left, we’d each only get one,” Mike explains. “But if we shotgunned, we’d both get two.” God, this is the best idea he’s had in ages. He should’ve stolen Will’s weed, like, months ago. “That’s like, bang for your buck. This is simple math, Will Byers. Keep up.”
In which it’s well past midnight in New York, Will can’t sleep, and Mike feels like they barely know each other anymore.
So, they get a little high. Mike is very normal about all of it.

Mike sentia a garganta seca, apesar do drink que segurava. O copo de vidro suava em suas mãos trêmulas, e ele bebia em goles rápidos, agoniado. A conversa de Dustin e Lucas parecia um ruído de fundo distante, sua mente era um labirinto de paranoia e expectativa. Ele estava no limite, a substância em seu sangue exigindo uma liberação, um foco.
Ele abriu a boca, as palavras prontas para saírem de forma caótica, prestes a perguntar algo absurdo, algo invasivo sobre a intimidade dos amigos, apenas para preencher o vazio sufocante da própria inexperiência, quando o sino da porta badalou.
O som pareceu ecoar em câmera lenta.
Mike congelou com a taça ainda nos lábios. O mundo, que até um segundo atrás girava de forma frenética e borrada, parou subitamente. O barulho do restaurante emudeceu.

Mike always hated parties, but as his eyes watched Will’s confidence shine as he enjoyed himself for the first time, doing things he had never been allowed to do before, Mike thought he might have gone crazy.
Naturally, he had to follow Will without hesitation, because who was Mike to refuse a very intoxicated and alluring Will Byers?
The thin line between feeling comforted as he watched the party light up and saying goodbye to his morals was almost invisible, and it was tempting to cross.
