It’s Will’s first summer in a while where there isn’t something spooky happening, where he can just be a kid and be free. He just wants to spend the time with his Party. The problem? They all have girlfriends. And Will is decidedly not into girls. It seems he’s condemned to a summer of third wheeling and watching his friends make poor relationship decisions.
Enter Beverly Marsh. She’s the first person outside of the party that doesn’t make him feel like a freak. She also has a cute best friend.Beverly is NOT happy about being sent with her aunt for the summer to Hawkins. It’s small, dusty, and there’s this aura about the place. Like something bad is lurking in the woods. She doesn’t even have friends here.

Summary
Will Byers and Richie Tozier strike up an unlikely friendship when the Byers officially move to Lenora, California. It’s Will’s chance to be normal — to be a stupid kid for once since that November of 1983 when he went missing and Richie Tozier is part of that normal, whether he wants him to be or not.
Richie Tozier has been in Lenora all of three years when the first interesting person to move here crops up in his life. Will is different, haunted, and beautiful in a way that he recognizes; in a way that stirs his blood. Familiar. He pursues a friendship with him based on this haunting familiarity and together the two cross boundaries that, in hindsight, would’ve been better if left alone.
