Alpha HJ x Omega SH have been friends, roommates, mutually beneficial sharers of their heat/rut cycles since debut. The little unofficial pack they form with their members operates cozily and smoothly until one day, a few weeks after a particularly intense heat which triggered an equally intense rut between SH & HJ, an increasingly nauseous SH begins to connect the dots alongside HJ.
Together, reaffirmed by HJ's support of the omega's decision regardless of the outcome, they finally take the almost certainly positive pregnancy test - but the results surprise. A quick trip to the gyno reveals the symptoms to be the result of a phantom pregnancy - SH immediately withdraws from HJ for reasons HJ cannot fathom, and they both begin to grieve, separately in their respective corners, the loss of a prospect that neither had anticipated, but both had quietly begun to celebrate for their own reasons.
After miscommunication - and finally an intervention from the members that reaffirmed their positions as beloved pack 'appa' and pack 'eomma' - they finally get on the same page regarding their affections towards each other and the status of their relationship going forward.
Feat. a quietly and patiently pining SH and an oblivious HJ convinced that the beautiful being that is PSH would never consider him seriously as an alpha :)))

“I’m San,” San says, voice dropping in a force of habit, something that has latched onto him from years of living the same humdrum life and his lifelong acquaintance with introducing himself to people who truly didn't give a fuck about him or anything he did, introductions serving merely as a necessary evil.
The stranger looks at him for a brief moment before he tilts the disinfectant bottle into the ball of cotton, soaking it as he leans forward and presses it against San’s stitches. San grabs his wrist.
“I’m gonna need a name before you treat me, pretty boy,” San says, making sure that it doesn’t come off sounding like a request.
The stranger raises his head to meet his eyes, something like sadness pooling in his eyes, smudged black and purple distracting San for the umpteenth time this evening and whispers softly, “Wooyoung.”
It’s a pretty name for a pretty face, but San is presented with an even prettier smile, shy and curling at the edges of his mouth, lilac field for his hair and cherry blossom cheeks, as he repeats it under his breath.
Or, San is working in the task force as a mercenary for an intergalactic law enforcement authority, and Wooyoung's the anomaly he doesn't see coming.

One of the top ten Ateez fics I've ever read for sure. So well written - both the sexy bits and the emotional bits. The plot (+ plot twist) is in a whole league of its own, honestly just so good that it's making me reconsider dystopian fics as a genre.
Absolutely worth a periodic reread - will not add a summary here so that it hopefully hits just as hard every time.

Summary
Seonghwa's spent his entire life being forgettable, to the point where he wants nothing more than to forget himself, too.
Giving up on the idea of love and companionship, he throws himself at the mercy of a controversial matchmaking service that specializes in matching up the most desperate loners with packs that have proven too dysfunctional to find that harmonious balance every pack needs.
Willingly drugged into a calm, nearly emotionless version of himself, Hwa should be able to assimilate effortlessly into the Ateez pack that's chosen him. If only it were that easy.

Intense - heed the tags - but very well written and excellent pacing. Finished this in 1-2 sittings and ended up with a reading headache but couldn't put it down, totally worth it.

Summary
Hongjoong works at the executive lounge of Conrad Seoul Hotel as a bartender, serving the hotel's VIP guests each evening. This is where he meets Seonghwa, a guest at the hotel on a romantic getaway with his partner - or - what was supposed to be a romantic getaway with his partner, if he hadn't caught the man cheating a few weeks before.
Instead of ordering a drink at Hongjoong's bar, he requests a glass of milk to dip the cookies his mother packed him in a special breakup bag. He comes with the same request each evening, and as the nights pass, they learn more about one another, about Seonghwa's breakup, and about his hesitance to indulge in all the couple things he planned to do alone or else he'd be reminded of the breakup.
In a spur of the moment decision, Hongjoong volunteers to take his ex's place, being the boost Seonghwa needs to enjoy the trip.
And enjoy the trip, they do.
