Magnus looks down at his arm, Alec’s pale hand on top of it. “And what do you feel?” It seems like Magnus is asking him something larger, something more important, but Alec doesn’t know what and even if he did, he doesn’t know what he’d say.
“I don’t ever know,” Alec answers honestly. He sees someone like Magnus, so in love and involved in the world, and it makes him want to take a nap.

Summary
When Alec came back from Alicante, life had seemed to finally be looking up for him. No longer "Acting" Head of the Institute, all of his hard work had finally paid off. He was the youngest official, fully-vested Institute Head in the past 150 years. Something he'd worked damn hard to achieve.
So of course he should've expected for something to happen to change that.
With the introduction of Clary Fray into their lives, and all the chaos she brought with her, Alec came home to an Institute in upheaval. Unsanctioned missions, a search for the Cup, and Valentine's daughter running free. And his very first steps towards trying to fix it all - reaching out to the High Warlock they'd all managed to use for help somehow without paying him - ends with a whole lot more trouble than Clary could've ever brought him.
Alec goes on a journey that starts with pain and ends with a strange bond he never wanted, a husband he never thought he could have, and the chance to finally affect some real changes in the Shadow World.
That is, if they can all survive long enough to see it happen.

Luke took a deep breath, “How are you doing Alec?”He nodded but kept his gaze out of the window, “I’m good. A few aches here and there but the doctor has given me the green light and Jace and I have been training together again. I’m pretty much there”. He turned back to Luke and saw his raised eyebrow.
“That’s great, I’m glad you’re healing physically. I have to admit that wasn’t something I was particularly concerned with, you’re too damn stubborn to let that beat you”. He breathed in loudly through is nose. “I was more concerned with your mental health…”.

“What fantasy?” Alec murmured, craning his neck up again to brush his lips against Magnus’ but the warlock teasingly moved just out of reach.

When Magnus had changed, he’d pulled on tight pants and an ornate emerald green jacket, open to his sternum to show off the necklaces he has layered on. His makeup is perfect now, smudges of kohl transformed into dark black lines. He looks every bit the High Warlock again, no longer like some late night fantasy created solely to torment Alec.
