Summary
It sucked that Tim couldn't trust his family. They had either been his abusers or bystanders, but even when he tried to take himself off their hands, they clung to him like a sticky residue. Trapped, he felt like a mouse beneath a cat's paw, and he knew the only escape would be a clean-cut break with no room for interpretion.
Somehow, they made room for interpretation.
“Bruce,” Tim rasped, his discarded Red Robin suit a thousand pound weight in his hands, clean and ready to go in its case. “You don’t even *like* me.”
The truth dangled between them like a spider’s web clinging to separate walls.To no one’s shock, Batman said nothing. The only sounds in the cave were the shuffling of bats and Tim’s bike rumbling softly at the entrance, waiting patiently for him to make his escape.

Or, Gojo and Geto reach out to Nanami a few years after he retires from sorcery and decides to work as a salaryman. They have no ulterior expectations other than checking up on him, or so they claim.

“... Hunter Elric?” the Chairman asks politely in the face of a third national level hunter to throw his hat in the ring.
“Don’t you think you’re jumping the gun a bit to call this guy’s dad a suspect?” he declares, glowing gold eyes leveling a challenge at the American Bureau.
“And here I thought you guys were the ones who insist on making “innocent until proven guilty” a right. Or does that only apply to Americans?” He smirks.

Sliding onto a stool, Jason leaned forward and surveyed the room, his HUD scanning for familiar faces. A few low-level crooks he recognized from old intel sat hunched over their drinks, but none of them were the people he was looking for. He let out a quiet sigh and raised a hand to signal the bartender.
The guy who approached wasn’t what Jason had expected. Lean and quick-footed, with unruly brown hair and sharp, intelligent eyes, the bartender moved with an effortless grace that Jason immediately noticed.
