Summary
Achilles is not taken to Scyros by his mother but is instead taken to the sea caves far below the surface of the ocean. He is fed food of the gods and his mortal blood is burned away from him. He joins the fight against Troy in dark armor, looking like a soldier of Hades himself. It is on this blood battle field that he meets a soldier, a medic, who has captivating eyes and a spirit so familiar about him.

“I… I will not be able to convince him to stop fighting.” Patroclus said carefully, wary of displeasing a god, “Even my word cannot dissuade him from his destiny.”
“See that’s the fun part, you don’t have to convince him of anything.” Hypnos smiled, “In fact, you don’t have to do anything for this plan. We’re just gonna take you out of the equation for a little bit, that’s all, grant Achilles some clarity of mind.” Patroclus’ eyes went wide as he put it together, fists clenching on his thighs at Hypnos’ blithe air over such a cruel plan.
“I am to be held hostage?” he rasped, heart heavy and throat tight, “To be used against Achilles like... like a favored toy dangled over a misbehaving child?”

Summary
Pyrrhus points at the carvers. "This... Patroclus. Do not include him. I will not let any commoner toil the name of my father. This marker honors Achilles, and Achilles alone." With the snap of his fingers, they begin to carve Achilles’ name on the stone.
'Wait-' The thought of him as a shade, slowly losing his memories of this life, 'losing Achilles-' Patroclus claws and screams, but no one hears him.
'I need to be with him,' Patroclus begs. 'Oh Gods, anyone who can hear me, please, you can’t separate us, please, you can’t keep me here, I need to be with him, please-'
They finish Achilles’ name, with not a mark for Patroclus.
The next day, the Greeks leave the shores of Troy.

As a shade haunted by his guilt, Patroclus loses the memories of his life, and of Achilles.
