“Who are you?” The man carrying the newspaper asked her, scrunching up his brow. He looked her up and down, completely befuddled. One by one, the other man, the doctor, and the stormy woman turned to look at her. They wore almost identical expressions of confusion. Rey blinked, speechlessly. The appropriate answer was "a waitress", or "a stranger," or even "a crazy, perpetually single woman who’s been hopelessly, inexplicably in love with your comatose son for weeks."
Behind her, the nurse huffed, cocking her hip. As if it was obvious, she said, “She’s his fiancée.”

Hux pressured her doggedly. “So you want the jurors to believe that you accepted a scented alphas shirt that you had never met and returned scented clothing to him in an elevator without thinking of what the consequences of that might mean?”
“I didn’t know he was an alpha,” Rey snapped, then shut her mouth quickly, but it was too late.
But Hux’s blue’s eyes twinkled. “Would the plaintiff rise?”
Ben Solo stood up. He was six foot three and looked sharp and sleek in black. His expression was composed. If Rey hadn’t had an audience she would have rolled her eyes. Sure, he looked like an alpha now, but take off all those fancy clothes and have him try to walk and chew gum at the same time and they’d see why she didn’t know at first either.
Or Ben spills coffee on Rey and she finds out that her career and life are both about to change.

Rey doesn’t move until the breeze from the window drops the scent. Even distant, it’s strong.
Bazine snorts at Rose, her drumming abandoned for now. Rey does hope this isn’t a common habit for a roommate.
“In order to issue commands, he’d have to talk. At all.”
Bazine emphasizes this by making a cutting motion with her hand across her throat.

Summary

There was hesitation now on his face that he hadn’t shown before, and that moment of pause was enough for her to remember.
To pull her back to the text that got her into this mess in the first place.
