Summary
The Bamboozlers are Vita Bay's favorite (and only) superheros. Almost everyday they scrap with the G's- a villainous quartet. The two groups often intertangle with the owners of the city's favorite bar, a salaryman, an exhausted TA, a family-oriented mechanic, a freelance detective, and the world's most cocky reporter. Scar is trying to balance the need to protect his loved ones and his own wellbeing, Lizzie is gentle parenting her teammates, Jimmy is crushing hopelessly on his enemy (who doesn't like him back), Impulse is trying to make a change, Cleo is taking back control of their own identity, Pearl is riding the wave of life, and Scott is battling crippling fears of abandonment with being cripplingly gay. Not to mention Martyn, who accidentally causes a whole lot of trouble for himself by being too good at his job. Things are always simple and uncomplicated...until they aren't.
Bamboozler hero AU! Not too angsty most of the time, but sometimes the author is gonna come in with a steel bat to the (emotional) knees. “How about this?” Cub offers, “We give you what you want, your boyfriend healthy and hale, with no memory of this ever happening, but you,” his eyes almost seem to shine, and the streetlights darken, as he continues, “you will remember this. You will never forget this for as long as you live. You will have to work to save him, go through trauma after trauma, and when you’re old and feeble with your mind dissolving you will still remember all of this with picture perfect clarity.”
“And Scott will be okay,” Martyn asserts. “At the end, after the traumas and the work, Scott will be healthy and hale with no memory of it ever happening.”

Scott has always been a strange figure.
Who wasn’t among the emperors, anyway? There was everything from an eccentric goblin, to a catfolk pretending to be human, to a god-king. One was not an emperor at all, but rather an archeologist who was accepted into their ranks anyway!
Maybe it was something in Scott’s eyes, the way the golden one had runes hidden in the iris that changed every time he blinked. Maybe it was the unnaturally bright hair? No- it was probably dye. Right?
Maybe it was the way his laugh echoed, like his voice wasn’t made for his throat.
Maybe it was the way he was always on guard, always listening for someone’s approach, like there was some secret he was terrified of someone finding out.
Maybe it was the way he carried a sword like it was second nature, and the way he looked uncomfortable without a weapon in hand.
Something wasn't right about him.

His body started shaking. Small tremors going through his arms, his legs. Not enough to make him fall over, but enough to be noticeably there. The back of his head began to hurt, the building up of a headache.
“Stop it.” Grian whispered, and like a light switch, everything stopped. His body stabilized, his head cleared, and Grian was going crazy.
Or, Grian finds a book that can grant all his desires, and makes a wish. But when reality starts to change and all his friends gain superpowers, Grian learns the hard way to be careful what you wish for.
