Really, there was no reason for Barry to feel surprise. Julian Albert was the one, new person to appear in his life post-Flashpoint; someone who Barry had never known, never met beforehand. By default that marked him as one of the people whose lives had been thoroughly and irreparably changed by his bought of time travel. All the same, it didn't stop the shock, the sorrow, at seeing now-familiar blond hair and angry eyes. Barry should have seen it. He should have known.
Barry learns of Julian's identity as Alchemy. As can be predicted, he tries to help.

“Good evening, Sheriff,” Scott greeted, with an uncomfortable and forced smile.
“Good evening, Scott,” Sheriff Stilinski returned patiently, playing along. “Anything I can help you with?” He didn’t look like he actually wanted an answer, which was fair because they rarely saw him when someone wasn’t on the verge of being arrested or dead.
“This is probably going to sound really weird, but I promise I’m being completely serious.” The Sheriff nodded for him to continue, almost looking pained. “Do you have a son, by any chance?”

Before Simon can even say something - which is probably for the best, since everything out of Simon's mouth these days is awkward - Raphael kisses him. It's not quick and it's not meaningless - they're in a club and Raphael is practically making out with him. This is new, and Simon is terrified because it's - not exactly horrible.
"We're engaged," Raphael says.
