The story takes place during in Hogwarts seventh year, second term (1998 January), and Hermione and Pansy are both is already 18 at the start of the story (Hermione's canon birthday is 1979. September 19, plus she aged herself with the time turner, Pansy's birthday is December 23, 1979).
