Summary
“Would you fire me?” Eddie follows up, because now he’s burning with desire to know. “If you were captain and I pulled something like that?”
“I would never fire you.”
“Why not?” Eddie folds his arms and quirks an eyebrow. “What about the chain of comm—”
“If you say chain of command, I will crash the car,” Buck interjects.
908 coda. Eddie stops keeping some secrets of his own, he and Buck talk, and Eddie discovers that fear may very well be the thief of joy.

Summary
That would be the pattern. That would be the smart choice, statistically, intuitively. It was his pattern, after all. But once again, he just couldn’t call a spade a spade, not when his heart was saying, well, “Hearts.”
Eddie leaned back a bit, a brief look of surprise in his eyes, before shaking it off entirely.
“Switching it up, Buckley?” He chuckled, bending the card upward so only he could peak. A smile crept across his face, though it looked as if Eddie was biting it back. He held the card fully in his hand now, still shielded from Buck’s view, and stared at it with an unfamiliar emotion taking shape along the line of his jaw. Finally, rather than setting it on the table, he placed the card into Buck’s hand, Eddie’s fingers pressing gently against his palm.
More weight. Buck sucked in a breath, pushing ever so slightly into Eddie’s touch. His thumb finally grabbed onto the card now in his hand, as he finally looked down.
A king of hearts.

Summary
He sighs, frustrated, with the world, with himself, with the stupid, mediocre beer he’s drinking that cost him twelve damn dollars, before tip even.
“The club isn’t the problem,” Eddie mumbles, staring across the dance floor, where Buck is curving his hand around the woman’s head and whispering in her ear.
“Is the problem that your wingman is a traitor?” Ravi asks, snickering at the sight.
“No. The problem is I don’t want to pick up women.” Eddie really hopes that’s enough information. Ravi is a smart guy. He kind of hopes he’ll piece it together. Though another part of him, a soft, new part of him, hopes Ravi doesn’t. He hopes he has to say it. He should probably get some practice in, right?
Ravi looks at him then, studying him. “You’re really happy being single?”
Eddie exhales. Smiles small and shakes his head.
“No, it’s not that,” he says. “I’m just gay.”
OR Eddie comes out at the club during 9x07. Just not to Buck.

Summary
For a moment, Eddie is quiet.
He stares. Blinks. Stares some more, his mouth opening and closing around nothing.
And then all at once, he zeroes in on the photo collage across the room, and his body goes completely still.
They’re all couples. Happy, blissful, newly married couples, still in their suits and long white dresses, holding each other close beneath the familiar branches of a willow tree. The same branches billowing in the wind outside Eddie’s bedroom window.
A wedding venue. He woke up in a wedding venue.
His wedding venue.
or: Eddie wakes up on the morning of his and Buck’s wedding. Except, Eddie is straight, and him and Buck aren’t together.

Summary
Eddie realizes he’s gay like he realized many things in his life: abruptly, with little warning or fanfare. One day he was lost: wandering aimlessly trying to find something missing in his life, and then his world snapped into focus, and everything made more sense than it had the day before.
Or, Eddie kisses Buck.
