George’s feet shuffled the sand. “That’s bad, right? I mean, not just that your magic doesn’t work—”
“Yeah. It means—” Paul took a deep breath and finally looked George in the eye. “It means I’m gonna die.”

In a world where fear of the unknown can prove deadly, Paul and George try to hide what they truly are, which becomes complicated with the intervention of a demon who has his own secrets and a lonely gargoyle who is willing to go against his nature to protect the monsters he is supposed to protect against.
