Summary
elena understood the true meaning of elijah’s bargain: her family lived, her friends remained untouched, and she went quietly to the sacrificial stone. she didn't ask for her own survival, nor did she want the cold, eternal burden of his vampire bloodline. she simply nodded, resigning herself to the grave with a terrifying, saintly grace.
for a thousand years, the petrova line was a bitter curse shared between brothers, but elijah resolves that this third doppelgänger will be wholly his. watching her in the quiet hours of the night, his obsession turns predatory and profound. he systematically dismantles her world, feeding on her intoxicating attraction to danger until she becomes utterly dependent on his presence.
