He’s also completely fine with the increasingly pointed love songs on the radio, the talk of a mysterious plan to win somebody over, and the fact that he's sure it has absolutely nothing to do with him.

“Did you hear it?” asked Will a few moments later, startling Mike out of his thoughts.
“What?” he turned his head to his right, but Will wasn’t looking at him, he was staring ahead. “..the clock.” he shrugged his head slightly, looking down at his feet.
“No.” Mike lied. He did hear it faintly back at the MAC-Z, right before Vecna walked out of the gate, and he heard it even more faintly at the hospital, while he and Nancy were waiting on updates from the doctors about their parents. For just a second, he actually thought he could make out the shape of a grandfather clock, down the hallway in the distance. But he blamed it on his sleep deprivation then, and Will didn’t need to know about it now.

Summary
Mike has spent months ignoring what he feels when he looks at Will. Months pretending that the way his heart races doesn't mean anything. That "best friends" is enough.
Then Will uses his powers to save them all, and Mike can't stop watching. Can't stop wanting.
When Mike walks downstairs and sees Will changing his shirt—sees the freckles scattered across his back like stars—everything he's been denying comes crashing down.
Will knows. He's always known. And he's done waiting.
