Summary
“A card?”, Will asks, tilting his head a little, “What card?”
Sure, Mike thinks, as if this hasn’t been embarrassing enough already. He can see it in Will’s eyes, that he knows what this is about and he’s daring Mike to ask it out loud for whatever reason. To let this personal humiliation ritual reach its full-circle moment, making it clear that Mike is disappointed that he’s not Will’s Valentine this year. He’ll get back at him for this, someday.
Mike takes a deep breath. “You know, every year you write me a Valentine’s Day card and every year you give it to me four days before I’m supposed to open it. Why not this year? Why didn’t you give me a card?” There. He said it. He asked him. Lucas’ leg taps up and down anxiously, eyes still focused elsewhere but clearly monitoring what Will has to say.
Will shrugs, casual as ever, “Why didn’t you give me a card?”
Mike blinks, “What?”
Will looks at him as if this had been obvious all along. “You’re right, Mike, every year I give you one and every year I receive nothing in return. I just thought you might not want one anymore.”

Summary
"You’re everything to me, Will.”
And suddenly it all crashes over him. Years of feeling seen by him, of being close to him, of never being able to say it aloud. Will's anger falters, and his fists drop. “I...I can’t.” He whispers, voice cracking. “You’re supposed to be with her, Mike. You can’t-”
“I can’t help it,” he says, voice barely above a whisper. “I can’t help how I feel about you.”
Everything stops. Will's anger, frustration, and fear all collide into one unbearable, aching, quiet truth; Michael Wheeler loves William Byers, even when he shouldn’t, even when he’s supposed to be with Jane.
And the worst part? Will loves him back.
OR
After everything Hawkins and California has thrown at them, Will and Mike are back home, but nothing feels simple. Mike is always there for Will, quietly protective, a little dense, and more attached than anyone realizes. Will notices everything, but he’s learned to keep most of it to himself.
As the days pass, small gestures start to carry more weight than either of them admits. Meanwhile, Eleven(Jane) begins to notice the way Mike looks at Will, and her quiet observations may be the push that changes everything.

Summary
At once, all of the pieces come together, and Mike isn’t sure he likes the shape they take. It’s like someone has taken a ball of red string into his brain and begun connecting years of memories he has worked so hard to ignore.
The painting. The red string reaches for another memory: El’s letter from that spring. All the shared looks that were meant only for the two of them. That day in the rain. Each shoulder bump. Every unnecessary brush of the knee.
Crimson yarn stretches into the recesses of his mind: The way Mike would always sit just a touch too close. The way Will would always let him. How lost Mike felt the year Will was in California. How he could never find the right words to say. The weird feeling Mike got in his chest when he saw Will at the airport, and he felt like he couldn’t breathe. The worst week of his life, back in 83’. "If we both go crazy, at least we’ll go crazy together, right?"
The string loops back around and grabs one final piece of the puzzle: Tammy motherfucking Thompson.

Mike’s junior year begins with an avalanche. This is what follows.

Summary
After surviving monsters, mind flayers, and the Upside Down, the Party finally has time for something normal: weekly D&D.
What starts as harmless in-character banter between Tayr the Brave and Will the Wise turns into painfully obvious flirting, except neither of them realizes it’s real.
Everyone else at the table does, everyone else is suffering.Ancient magic, bad decisions, and one very ill-advised resurrection later, the line between game and reality disappears entirely.
