Nanami didn’t really understand desire. His needs were met, and while he wasn't happy, he was arguably "okay." Every day, he went about his life with wants and needs, but they weren’t severe. He bought his favorite bread and was mildly upset when it wasn’t in stock. He had a water bottle he filled twice a day for proper hydration. Occasionally, he treated himself to a nice black coffee, but it wasn't adequate in a way that ached. So, when Nanami finds himself admiring one of Gojo's paintings, he seeks out more.

Summary
Phoenix thought he'll never lay his eyes on Miles Edgeworth's face again. After all, the man simply vanished suddenly without leaving any trace. However, one thing Phoenix knew for sure was that Miles' father, Gregory Edgeworth, was a stock market businessman, which meant Miles himself was most likely on the path of becoming one as well (considering how much he admired and respected his parent).
That drove Phoenix to pick up management and business studies as college majors, for the sake of finding Edgeworth somewhere out there, among the myriad of companies the world had to offer.
Just as he was losing hope, he never would've thought destiny would bring Miles over to just a few streets away from Phoenix's workplace.
