In the summer of 1981, the chaos of the wizarding war rapidly escalates after Peter Pettigrew’s betrayal, leaving the Order of the Phoenix on the brink of collapse. A series of bombings orchestrated by Pettigrew triggers a massive breakout from Azkaban, plunging the Order into crisis amid a rising tide of suspicion and scrutiny from within and without. On the run, James Potter and Lily Evans are rescued by the fugitive Sirius Black and take refuge in the ancient Black family home at 12 Grimmauld Place, London.
With both the Ministry of Magic and Death Eaters closing in, James is forced to take up the mantle of interim leader of the Order. Bound by circumstance, he finds himself reluctantly partnered with Sirius—a man marked by a notorious past and tangled family loyalties. Together, they are drawn into the dangerous crosscurrents of family feuds, underground networks, and shifting magical authorities.

He told me he wanted to “try something.” It sounded like he was referring to me as some sort of lab rat, or guinea pig for an experiment. Who knows, maybe he was trying to make it sound that way.
“Write in this book every day, once per day.” He said, and pointed to the red book he had given me. “Treat it as your diary.” And then he asked if I’d ever kept a diary before. I said no, which made him smile because “it’s never too late to start.”
