Adrien Agreste is stuck working the front desk for his father's middling fabric shop. Shinji Ikari is stuck working as a barista at his father's mediocre coffee shop. Both need a break sometimes, and they manage to strike up a friendship in the alley behind both of their workplaces over relaxing with a cigarette in hand. When you have someone in your life who can relate to the weight of working for the Man, sometimes it's easier to break free together.

Summary
Old scars tend to itch if you scratch at them, which is why Marinette moved to New York after her partner momentarily betrayed her in their final battle. But some scars heal shallow and ugly. Seven years never seemed to be enough to heal her own, especially now that she has run out of time. Forces are pushing her back to Paris, back to Adrien. Forces like the four children he has adopted, who seem quite keen on Marinette coming back into their father's life. Especially now that he is engaged to a wealthy woman who wishes to use Adrien and his status to further her own gains. The question is, is it worth picking at old scars if all they do is remind Marinette of her failures?

I wanted the fic "Rock The Boat" by Ehlihr (ehlihr) (also in AO3) to be longer. Based on this fic, but my own interpretation obviously.
