Will doesn’t know what’s going on.
He still doesn’t, as he runs through a maze of hallways-- a strange combination of every hallway he's ever been in. A mix of Hawkins’ Middle School blending into Lenora High, which bleeds into Hawkins’ National Laboratory, whose walls and floors were coated in actual blood and viscera. Occasionally, he’ll pass a wall with strung-up Christmas lights and black painted-on letters in his mom’s handwriting. Past that, it’s a giant mural of a tiger. Sometimes it’s the familiar shelves of books from Hawkins’ Library. Sometimes it’s normal, a memory of warmth. Sometimes he wishes he could make out his own drawings on the familiar basement walls.
Mostly, it’s bloody and dark and damp.
He never stays in place too long, though, constantly on the move, running from a mess of shadows that chases him.
He’s not sure when he realizes it isn’t a dream.
He’s not sure when he realizes it’s a waking nightmare hallucination of His making.
He wonders when everyone else noticed. If they even did.
He wonders if he's going to die here.
He wonders if this time, his luck runs out.

Klavier nodded, a bright look in his eyes. “Then it’s a deal! You choreograph my free skate and help me with my quads, and I’ll compose that song of yours as well as help you regain your love of skating!” He declared with a blinding grin, reaching his hand out across the table. “What do you say, Herr Forehead? Shake on it?”
Apollo felt laughter bubbling across his chest, his eyes sparkling with excitement. He took the offered hand and smirked. “It’s a deal.”
Or: Prince Apollo Justice Sahdmadhi wants to retire from professional figure skating with a bang, and Klavier is happy to help. That is, except for the fact that Klavier doesn’t know it’s Apollo’s last season.

Mike gulped and leaned over the side of the building again, ignoring the shaking in his hands. He noted that Cleric was holding onto the side of the fire escape below him, not moving, instead staring up at him with an expression that radiated worry.
Great, he even had the criminal concerned for him.
Scowling, Mike shook out his hands and moved over to where the lip of the roof met the ladder down to the fire escape and slowly made his way down it like a normal person would. Because he was normal and not crazy like Cleric was. Jumping over the edge of a building and grabbing the outside of the fire escape frame to climb down? Like what the hell???
Mike ignored how his hands shook as he made his way down the side of the building. Slowly.
It was kind of embarrassing.
OR: Six times Mike nearly caught the Cleric-- an infamous thief alongside his twin sister, the Mage-- but didn’t, and the one time he did.
