“Hey,” Peter said without opening his eyes. He buzzed with awareness – not quite spider-sense, but a pleasant alternative, the electric tingle of Johnny in bed next to him, the soft sound of his breath and the bonfire-faded, criminally expensive cologne scent of him. “You know I love you, right?”
Johnny breathed out, slow, and settled his head on Peter’s shoulder. “I love you.”
“Good,” Peter said, smiling.
Johnny flung an arm over Peter’s chest and Peter hummed sleepily, relaxing into his hold.
He woke up around sunrise to the pad of paws on the pillow, a two second warning before five pounds of fluff settled on top of his head and immediately started purring. A tail swished in his eye.
“I hate this,” Peter said without conviction.

Sue smiled back, strained, and nodded.
“I don’t want to see them,” she said, raising her eyebrows meaningfully.
“Sue!” he protested. “It’s a great idea! Think of all the uncles out there who have been waiting for a line of functional yet comfortable athletic wear that they can match to their favorite niece or nephew!”
“And how many uncles, roughly, would that be?” Sue asked.
Johnny held up a hand.
“Admittedly,” he said, “we haven’t conducted market research yet.”

He remembered Wang Shuo tilting Chi Cheng’s head back, his tongue in his mouth, the lilt of his own voice as he said, “Let him come up for air for a minute.”

Summary
The cultivation world is rebuilding from the wreckage of the Sunshot Campaign, but Wangji and his shield brother Wei Wuxian are still completely attached at the hip. It is sad that Lan Xichen’s brother is stuck in the youthful pattern of - ah, no polite way to say it: exchanging handjobs with his shield brother - rather than moving on to more adult pursuits.
On the other hand, now that the war is over, Wangji does seem so much more open and happy than he was as a boy. He smiles sometimes, mostly at Wei Wuxian. Once, he even took an afternoon off. Lan Sizhui recognizes his tone—this is the voice that Wei Wuxian uses on hurt people and young children, a very calm and no-nonsense voice that has none of the mischief and cheer of the way he sounds the rest of the time. Lan Sizhui looks up and meets his eyes, and they are dark, stormy gray, muddled and concerned.
“I’m all right,” he croaks.
“Hush,” Wei Wuxian says, in a low croon, like someone quieting a baby. Then he blinks, and looks away, awkward. “I mean—you shouldn’t speak. You’re tired. Rest if you need to.”
