Summary
Xie Lian had never thought about death, not his own at the very least. He used to live a good life, up until the war. He had a loving mother and the citizens of Xian Le loved him as well. He was lucky to be born into the royal family and he was able to live his life in the best way he could imagine.
When he said he’d protect the common people, when he told himself he’d protect the people important to him, everyone believed him.
But fate had other plans for him.
Seeing his parents hanging limply from the ceiling of the little cottage, death had really sounded like the best thing that could happen to him.

They have seen many things together. Hua Cheng had promised him, so so so many years ago, had yelled the words Xie Lian never known he needed to hear. The words of a young child, spoken through tears while everything Xie Lian was trying to protect crumbled and burned before his eyes, “I WON’T FORGET. I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU”

Summary
Xie Lian found himself standing in the police station in front of five possible suspects. None of the men in front of him looked familiar but he knows it was one of them. His eyes moved over the the men, taking in as many details as possible. He heard Shi Qing Xuan move next to him.
“So, do you recognize any of these men?” he asked.
Xie Lian shook his head. “ I was hiding in the bathroom stall, so I didn’t see his face.” after a moment of consideration he continued, “but I heard him. He was singing along to the music at the bar.”

When Wen Chao opened his eyes, his breath got stuck in his throat. Lying burrowed under the covers, face illuminated beautifully by the sun streaming in through the window, still deeply asleep and breathing softly, was probably the most beautiful man he has ever laid his eyes on. Wen Chao felt like the luckiest man on earth.
