He stood in place for a moment, and when the rhythmic beeping did not appear to be coming closer, he took his chance to explore. He headed straight for the cupboards, a place to hide if someone came in first on his list and started to peer inside the open ones. Metal plates with sticks attached sat inside. Most were flat, some had tall sides, and there was even one he could hide in if it came to it. They were all smooth and flat and shiny like river rocks.
