He thanked the servants for doing their jobs. He wouldn’t get angry over accidents or mistakes, either. It was slightly off-putting, as far as Chihiro was concerned. If Chihiro hadn’t been watching, she wouldn’t have believed it herself.
She didn’t entirely believe it anyway.
Still, surely something of importance would come of the new Fire Lord’s strange behavior.
Though, to be fair, she thought to herself as a half-masked figure leapt at her from the shadows of a pillar one evening, she hadn’t thought that that ‘something’ would be an attempted coup.
(Or, in which a palace servant decides, yeah, I'm protecting this kid.)

He’s a go-getter though. You don’t make it to the Olympics without being tenacious- occasionally to a fault- after all.
Which is why, when Kojiro returns to their room, a little sweaty and damp from the workout Kaoru absolutely refused to join in on, Kaoru wastes exactly no time in pushing him up against their door and cutting off Kojiro’s “Kaoru, what the fuck?” with his mouth.
In which Kaoru and Kojiro admit they love each other and then get cocblocked by the Olympic Village and everyone in it.

“Reki,” Kaoru sighed, “what I’m hearing is that you want to get your ears pierced, is this correct?” The teen’s face flushed a little pink at being called out so directly, but he nodded, confirming Kaoru’s suspicions. “And were you going to try to do it yourself?”
“What? No!” The response came a little too quickly and a lot too squeaky for Kaoru to willingly overlook it, so, begrudgingly, he decided to take matters into his own hands.
“If you wish to get your ears pierced, Reki, I could always take you. The last thing I need happening is for you to improperly try to stab yourself with an unsterilized needle, have your wound get infected, and have to tell your mother that her son died because of my influence.”
“That’s a bit dramatic—”Or
Kaoru takes Reki to get his ears pierced (and the events that follow).

“In my defense, I didn’t intend to get stuck here,” Kojiro says, shrugging as he attempts to open Kaoru’s fridge. His hand passes straight through the handle and Kaoru feels deeply vindicated by his struggle.
“You get no defense. You’re. Haunting. Me.”
“Trust me princess, I would rather be haunting literally anyone else.” Kojiro says and Kaoru ignores the urge to shove his face into his own freezer and scream at the unfairness of life.
So, yes, there’s a ghost in Kaoru’s house. But the real problem here is that the ghost is hot and insufferable.
In which Kaoru's new-old house is haunted, he never gets any peace ever, and love is involved.

Kaoru hasn't talked to Kojiro in over a year. Kojiro comes back to Okinawa during a break in his culinary training, and he comes with a mission.

Both boys nudged Langa, the only one who hadn’t spoken yet.
“We’re baking a cake.” Langa blurted out.
Kaoru blinked, “what?”
“F-For Joe’s birthday…” He said, quieter. “Tomorrow.”
Cherry, with a spare key, finds that the kids also snuck into the restaurant to bake a cake for Joe's birthday tomorrow. He takes it upon himself to help them.
It's a disaster.

Cherry stared back wide-eyed, jaw slack in shock. “We’re what?”
Or: Cherry never wanted to get "romantically involved" with Joe because he was afraid things would change. And rightfully so, because they totally did.
