Summary
“Dr. King,” Dana calls after her, “Fix your hair, we don’t need any cross-contamination. ”
“Yep,” Mel responds, “Sorry.”
“I don’t need an apology, just fix it,” Dana says, already turned away from her to look at the board.
“I go this,” Mohan says, “We’ll be in trauma two when you're done.”
Mel moves to hug the wall before pulling a hair tie out of her pocket. Frank should probably stop watching, but he’s mesmerized by him. He’s been watching for longer than is polite already, but he can’t stop looking at her hair. It’s a little wavy from the tension of the braid; her finger combs it out for a second before she expertly ties it back behind her head. He bets it’s soft and mentally tries to figure out when he last touched her hair. There’s that moment from his first day back. She’d fallen, and he’d had to check her head. You didn’t let me down. Mel is the only one who doesn’t act like they're walking on thin ice every time.

Summary
“I’m going to end up like them, with my life revolving around this job,” she says. “Coming in early and leaving late, sleeping with my phone waiting to get called in even on days off.”
“She needs to get laid.”
He raises his hands as Mel frowns at him, eyebrows furrowing behind her glasses.
“What? I think he needs to get laid too.”
“She needs to be made love to.”
And then, like her voice is working faster than her brain, Mel says, “We should just lock them in a room so they can have sex with each other.”
Frank laughs at the absurdity of residents trying to get their attendings to hook up, but it’s like a lightbulb goes off for her.
“Why didn’t I think of this sooner? We should set them up.”

Summary
CALL HER AND TELL HER YOU LOVE HER.
"Her" was a sweet smile, blonde hair always tied back in a neat braid, dark plastic glasses, honey brown eyes, flushed cheeks, and a small brown mole right by the right eye. "Her" was awkwardness, carefulness, trust, respect, empathy, self doubt, and genius. "Her" was the mumbled sorry’s and the honest thank you’s. "Her" was the softest of voices and the sweetest of giggles.
"Her" was Mel.
Langdon finally tells Mel he loves her

Summary
"Significant pulmonary contusion and multiple rib fractures, and there's very likely a subdural hematoma in there too,” Garcia says grimly, sounding like she's citing it to herself rather than to anyone else in the room. “We’re lucky it's most probably small, but given her fluctuating GCS it still concerns me quite a bit. Also, besides the shard of metal, the bruising and swelling along her abdomen suggests the possibility of internal bleeding as well, but we need to get in the OR to fully evaluate the severity of it."
“Jesus King,” he murmurs. “You were supposed to have the day off.”
or: there's a car accident on mel's day off. she ends up at the pitt anyways.
