“Got a burrito, no avocado?” Eddie realizes much too late that he’s watching Evan Buckley serve breakfast in their favourite diner as the blonde hands his plates to a couple sitting not far from them. He smiles genuinely and asks whether they need anything else, and Eddie’s mouth hangs open like a gargoyle on the side of a haunted building.
Buck. Serving food. At a diner.
On his day off from firefighting.

When Chris and Eddie decide to get breakfast at their new favourite spot, a familiar face takes them both by surprise.

Summary
Buck managed to push to his feet and took a step forward, swaying precariously.
“Stop, Buck! I’m coming to you!” Eddie shouted. “Don’t move!”
Buck took another step forward anyway, either not hearing Eddie or not comprehending what he said, and promptly lost his balance. He fell, tipping to the left, his shoulder colliding heavily with the fire-riddled wall. Eddie watched in horror as the flames made contact with Buck’s body, licking up at Buck’s face and neck where his skin was exposed.
The sound of Buck’s scream would haunt Eddie for a long, long time. He collapsed back down to the floor, his gloved right hand flying up to the burnt skin.
Or: Buck gets hurt on a call. It almost ruins his and Eddie's relationship.

Summary
"You’re making everyone nervous,” Bobby says, not unkindly.
“Nervous? I’m keeping them safe,” Eddie counters, not quite sure what to do with the flickers of anger bubbling up at this conversation. “We can’t control lightning strikes or bridge collapses, but we sure as hell can be on our toes about our equipment.”
In which Eddie becomes a little obsessed with equipment maintenance and has a crisis of sexuality, and the two things are more related than he thought.
