He'd survived because he damn well chose to. Because even the other "Miles" had known, one day, he might be outmatched. But not defeated.
Even lost in the depths of the forest, shaking and shivering, hoping she won't notice, he still holds onto that, however weakly. He made it out alive. Barely. And lo' and behold, no Eywa came from him.
It was her, and damn, was he glad to see that pretty face.

Before the tent flap has even fully closed she's on him. Pushing herself up against him while simultaneously tugging him closer. Make that two.

“Stop,” you snap, sharper than you intended. The word cracks through the call like a whip, and there’s a beat of silence on the other end.
“What?” she asks, laughing nervously. “I’m just saying, people are weird, and the internet is even weirder. Anyway, are you okay? It’s kind of freaky that he’s still out there. Makes you think he could be anywhere.”
Your stomach churns violently, and your eyes flick back to him. He’s still watching you, his smirk faded into something quieter—something more dangerous. He tilts his head slightly, lifting one hand in a mock little wave.
You glare at him and turn your back, facing the far wall as if you can physically distance yourself from his presence.

But Mitch can’t lose his mind over every pretty new girl that shows up here, especially with the raiders about to attack. He’d be no better than Ruby wanting to waste time burying Ms. Martin. It’s what Louis did anyway, and that backfired on him massively.
Clementine’s just like him, smart, no-nonsense, practical. Therefore if she knew Mitch was wasting his time thinking about something as stupid as her face, she’d probably tell him to get over it.
