Someone bumps into his shoulder and the moment is broken. People are shuffling around him across the walk and Josuke has to do an awkward half jog to make it to the other side before the timer runs down. The closer he gets to that tall silhouette, hands causally tucked into his pockets, Josuke's throat works and even though he knows, deep down, there's no way it's possible–
"Jotaro?" He calls ahead and the man gives a little half turn, responding to the name but the differences are more apparent as Josuke closes the gap until he's standing a couple meters away.
"Were you talking to me?" the man asks, and his smile is so kind. It's even strangely familiar. The subtle crinkle at the corners of his deep, sapphire eyes, flecked with vivid green and sultry violet leave Josuke feeling exposed. He can't tell if this handsome stranger is looking with appreciation or not. He wants to think it’s appreciation he sees. His heart leaps in his chest, rising in his throat as the sting of embarrassment makes him flush.
"Oh– Sorry you just… Looked like someone I… know."

It’s awful hard to breathe.
But he’s trying. God fucking damn it, he’s trying. And it hurts worse than anything, worse than the bites or the torn flesh or the aching all over. It burns worse than the smell. He can’t tell if it’d be easier to breathe through his nose or his mouth, so he just sort of heaves with his mouth open and hopes that air gets in somehow.
He might be dying.
Steve says he’s not dying, very insistent on that, in fact, but Eddie’s not sure if he believes him.
