Doesn’t question it when he finds himself parking in his driveway twenty minutes later, looking over at Rust smoking from the gifted pack of Camels and leaning against the passenger door.

Summary

Summary
Randy wondered what the West could hold that was so interesting that Benson wanted to point the nose of the car towards it. Much like he wondered how any of the places they’d visited had been of interest to a man in his thirties who barely knew what the air smelled like ten miles outside of town.
Still, the Randy from last month wasn’t anywhere to be found as the new one, wearing clothes he picked solely for himself and covered in the bruises from the fingertips of a man who was ultimately terrible for him, sat in his stead. Taking up the passenger side of the car with a bolstering new personality and hair shavings digging into the skin of his neck where his t-shirt’s collar lay. Benson shrank under the irritation of this new person, sweating down the sides of his temples and twisting in the driver’s seat as he tried to get away from the size of Randy’s rage.

Randy & Benson continue their journey, leaving Florida behind and heading West. Cresting between love and sheer irritation. The catalytic emotions towards Randy's final pit-stop, someone or something completely different to the young man that was bundled into the car on that last Saturday morning shift.

‘Y’never got married? Not once? I’d of sworn you were married,’ says Wayne, a kind of willing blindness that Roland hasn’t missed once. But then again, maybe it’s not willing. So he agrees to lend Wayne his memory, knowing full well that the rest of him belongs to another man.
