Summary
You wake to blinding sunlight.
You groan softly, squeezing your eyes tighter and turning away in an attempt to block the light.
“Oh, you’re up!” an unfamiliar voice calls from your left. There’s a quiet rustling of fabric before the warmth mercifully disappears from your face. Safe from the light, you open your eyes and glance to the side. A tall Elonian woman you don’t recognize stands by the window, one hand holding the woven curtain.
“Sorry for waking you like that,” she apologizes, tying the curtain back with a length of cord, “How are you feeling?”

Summary
“I’m sorry,” you croak, squinting at Braham in confusion, “you want to… what?”
“Uh, use the Scrying Pool to view your memories?” he repeats, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. “Only with your permission, of course.”
“…Ah,” you nod slowly, letting the question fully sink in. You bring the glass of water to your lips again as you search for the right words. “That’s…”
A complete and total invasion of my privacy, your mind supplies helpfully.
“...a strange request,” you mutter into the cup.
—
The Commander never told Braham about their first death at the hands of Balthazar. Years later, he finds out in the worst way possible.

Summary
You feel a migraine coming on, but it’s fine.
After all, it’s not like ‘YOU’ feel it. The throbbing behind Kris’s temples and the prisms of dancing color in their vision don’t actually affect their walking speed, or their Dark World stats, or the brilliant white SAVE points scattered around like fallen stars. In terms of status ailments, it’s nothing more than one more line of flavor text in a full chorus of one-liners still echoing from last night’s encounter.
You feel your migraine getting worse, but it’s fine.
You feel your heartbeat pulsing at the edges of your skull with every noise echoing through the Dark Sanctuary, but it’s fine. (It has to be fine.)
You feel a migraine settling in deeper, but it’s fine, it’s fine, IT HAS TO BE FINE.
(Or: fic where Susie, Ralsei, and the SOUL notice Kris is not fine. A bit of early prodding sends the whole plan unraveling early, and Susie, Ralsei, and a disembodied SOUL are forced to improvise.)
