Summary
That night, William didn't go to Freddy's to find Charlie locked outside. Instead, he decides to go check up on his son, before Mike has a chance to run away, to punish him for what happened to Evan.
Mike doesn't know why his dad is leading him out into the forest in the rain, but with William pulling the boy's arm, he has no choice but to follow him.
There was absolutely no way he could've anticipated what was going to happen to him.

Summary
Gaster brought Chara back after they reset Frisk's save as a skeleton.
Frisk and Flowey remember nothing of the previous timeline. Chara can feel empathy and compassion again. (And of course, with that comes tons of guilt.) So now, they have to guide Frisk through the Underground, using the fact they look like a monster to their advantage. This time, though, they don't feel any desire to hurt anyone.
