Summary
This is a rewrite of the Proof of Justice OVA because the original idea slaps but Ren and Goro are so out of character so this is my attempt to fix it. If you haven't watched Proof of Justice yet (you're welcome now you won't need to) here's an actual synopsis:
Taking place after the boiler room scene, Ren finds Goro has written the phrase "proof of justice" in a book of crosswords. Desperate to find the hidden meaning of his words, Ren investigates all the places he visited with Goro in the past and reminisces on the time they spent together.

Summary
Ren agrees to Maruki's offer after finding out Goro will die if he doesn't. Goro is done being a pawn in other peoples' games and decides to take on Maruki without the Phantom Thieves. Likewise, Sumire is done being strung around like a voiceless puppet.

AKA the story of how Trucy and Phoenix spend their time eavesdropping on Klavier and Ema as they talk about failed relationships and (in the Wrights’ eyes) missed opportunities. Scrunched up paper is thrown, Snackoos are eaten, cowards hide behind couches, and the nature and indicators of love are questioned (poorly).

Summary
Canute does whatever he can to keep Thorfinn, though it might cost him everything.
“You want to kill me now.”
The words steal his breath with their truth. Thorfinn looks at him, from under his filthy bangs, eyes piercing and bruised. Something in Canute’s chest flips over at that look, at how wounded he is. He’s broken. He’s been broken from the first moment they met, but now he’s lost even Askeladd to hold his pieces together.
“But if you fight me like this, it’s not fair. You have to wait until I get stronger. Be my guard until then, and I’ll duel you, warrior to warrior.”
Thorfinn’s gaze is unflinching. Canute reaches behind him and pulls the dagger from the folds of his fur-lined cloak. The blade is a part of Thorfinn, like the crown is a part of Canute, now. He hands it over, hilt first.
“Or, you can kill me today. Right now, right here.”
