Summary
It’s Kathy who wakes up first, her neck sore as she pulls her head up from the desk she’d fallen asleep at, a pencil unsticking from her cheek. Don is still fast asleep, his loud snores making the paper beneath him flutter. Cosmo has somehow found himself sprawled over both of their laps, his head lying upside down off of Don’s thigh.
Kathy knows that she should rouse them awake and get them to bed but she takes a moment to just soak in the moment of her boys so at ease.

Summary
The script of every epic romance told him to make a grand gesture, to make some sort of proclamation, but all he did was reach for the radio’s volume dial and tick it up a couple notches. There’s no need, Don assured himself, squeezing Cosmo’s hand lightly and tapping his fingers against the wheel. As he watched Kathy curl up in the back, felt Cosmo’s fingers twitch as though he was still playing the piano, the answer was as clear in his mind as it was in their faces. They already knew how much he loved them.
