It was Etho's fault.
Reaching into his pocket, Etho wasn’t surprised to see a baggy of little capsules. “Okay, new game then.” Joel’s grin took a dangerous edge as he pulled one of the pills out, pocketing the bag before holding it over Etho’s cup. Etho’s eyes were trained on Joel’s fingers, watching him crack the thin plastic with ease, both of them watching the white powder fall and dissolve in his drink in silence. Dropping the empty casing, Joel crushed it further underneath his boot like he would a cigarette butt before offering a raised eyebrow at Etho. “The rules are simple. You’ve already listened so well earlier by staying in one place.” Etho’s gut felt heavy as he started piecing together what Joel was about to do. “Take a sip.”
His gut dropped.
