Only a naive fool would believe that the Interrogator's unwelcome presence on Ekaterina Stubbs' voidship was due to a mutual interest in rooting out cult activity - or, even more laughably, an attempt to protect her, should the cult try to murder her like they murdered her predecessor. Far more likely that the Inquisition wanted to keep an eye on her, to see if she reached out to any of her old connections.
But if that was the case, why did Heinrix van Calox not make any formal accusations? Why did he willingly follow her into danger?
When he said her name, why did he say it with such strange softness?

This is Diana's story before she became the head of the dynasty.
Diana Von Valancius is MissCoet's OC - one of my favourite artists in the fandom and an absolute darling. She kindly allowed me to borrow Diana and write this piece for her. Thank you again, I loved being able to give Diana her extended backstory.

To charm, in the literal, non-magical sense, is an art. A craft to be perfected and honed, just like wielding a blade. It and seduction go hand in hand, but are subtly different. To seduce, you are guiding another along in a charade of barely concealed desire. To charm is to disarm, for the other party to barely be aware they are being ensnared at all.
Astarion tries to charm a charmer, but it doesn't go the way either of them expect.

Summary
It’s easier for Astarion to believe Naomi tastes so sweet because she was his first. Easier to ignore the fact that every undead in vague proximity yearns for the same blood that’s sated him night after night. Easier to pretend her music is arcane as any other bard’s, and not divine enough to wake corpses from the dirt.
Easier to pretend Naomi is simply a bard, and not something more akin to a siren. One that's slowly realized she's not just another sailor, after all.
Easier to bury the fact that he's already stupidly in love with her. Like she wouldn't just raise that out of the ground, too.
A curse rears its head. A devil comes calling. Astarion fights for his freedom from Cazador. He and the rest of their merry little band fight to save Tav from the doom she feels she's fated for.

Maybe that matters a little less than who you share the shit with, in the end. But the two of them still need to take a moment to be miserable about it. -

Summary
There were a lot of people who looked the same in Astarion’s eyes, faces that blurred together into one over the years, faces he didn't want to remember. Some faces ingrained themselves into his mind, like the one of the drow who had smiled at him as she died.
So when Astarion was met with that same face with that same smile as he held a dagger to her throat decades after she had already died, he needed answers.
