Summary
This wasn’t the weirdest situation Wirt had ever been in, but it was perhaps the one he had been thrust into with the least dignity.
—In which the circumstances of a second fall into the Unknown demand a little flexibility vis-à-vis gender presentation. Featuring: a wish on a star; organized crime; a lavish wedding; and several very pretty dresses.

Summary
The book's embossed title glints coyly in the arc he makes to flip back open the page. The bark of his hand leaves just a little black smudge on the paper, charcoal-like, an awkward marker for all future readers to see that the Deathless Wooden God of the Unknown was once here, huddled in the dark, alone and embarrassed and feeling distressingly like a teenager.

“I’ll catch up,” Wirt had promised, but he never said when. That was the loophole in the deal. Greg just had to be patient.

Summary
“...What’s your name then, eastern transplant?” the young man asked when Artemy could taste smoke.
“Artemy,” he answered, earning raised eyebrows for his honesty. The young man seemed surprised by the response to his own question. Instead of pulling out his own cigarette, he reclaimed the one Artemy had chosen to take a drag himself. There were plenty in his pack before, though, weren’t there?
“Artemy… My, my… That’s your real name, isn’t it?”
“…Should it not be?” he asked.
The other young man was still smiling at him though and offering him back the cigarette still to share.
“No. I rather think it should be,” he answered. “Audentes fortuna iuvat… Just for that, you can call me Daniil.”

Bookmarker's Notes
This fic deserves an engaged response like none I've ever read before--but I think I need to take the plunge and actually Play Pathologic first because I would hate to blunder through my comments with only a partial understanding of both the source material and this incredibly canny take on the source material's capacity to transcend the lines between reader and text.
I'm going to come back to this one.
